FAQ

FAQ

How old must my child be to register?

Your child must be three years old and potty trained to register.

Priority is given to Francophone families. Children requiring one-to-one care may not be éligible to attend. Please see our Parent Handbook.

What are your registration fees?

Consult the registration fees section

How do I apply for the Affordability Grant?

All of our families qualify automatically for the affordability grants as long as you meet the requirements outlined in the Alberta child care affordability grant funding guide. For each month that your child attends our preschool, the Capucine will receive this money and will either reimburse or reduce your fees depending on when you register. There are also subsidies available for families earning less than $180000/yr for our 2023-2024 half day preschool program, as well as for our current and future full day programs. Apply here.

Please note that families can not apply for both the preschool and the daycare subsidy - one of the main reasons we are shifting to a full day (daycare) program at both of our locations in 2024.

For our ENM (full day) families - you will qualify for the affordability grants if your child attends either 50h ($225) or 100h ($626) /month. Further subsides are available depending on your annual revenue. Click here to learn more.

Are the registration fees refundable?

In the event of the withdrawal of a child, thirty (30) days written notice is required and the tuition fees must be paid until the end of the month following the date of withdrawal (e.g. if the date of notice is September 12, tuition must be paid until the end of October). If the withdrawal takes place after April 30th, parents must pay the full amount of tuition remaining for the current year.

As concerns the $100 deposit cheque for cleaning, if the child leaves the program before February 1st and the parent has not participated in cleaning, the parent must pay $50. If the withdrawal takes place after February 1st and the parent has not participated in cleaning, the parent must pay $100.

In the case of the $500 deposit cheque for volunteering, if the child's withdrawal takes place before the end of the year, the parent must have done their volunteer hours or pay $30 for each month their child was enrolled.

What does the role of parents in La Capucine preschool consist of?

Consult the parent handbook.

If someone other than me has to pick up my child from preschool, do I send a note?

The parent must call or send a note to the educator so that the designated person can leave with the child.

What type of snack can my child bring to La Capucine?

Consult the parent handbook. Please remember to send a water bottle (no juice boxes) and note that all grapes, cherries, cherry tomatoes and sausages/weiners MUST be cut in half lengthwise.

What happens when my child is sick?

When a child is sick (fever, cough, stomach / headache, runny nose, etc.), the educator immediately alerts his / her parents or guardians so that they may come and get them. While waiting for the parents to arrive, the sick child will be removed from the group (but stay under the constant care of an educator.) Please, if your child is not feeling well, keep them at home. Thank you.
